Happy August!
I swear, as soon as it hits July 15th, the weather changes. You know what this means: it's fall is creeping up right around the corner. I feel it's till too early yet to talk about my favorite fall fashions, but I will share my favorite fragrance for the start of fall. In fact, I am going to share with you a guide to picking your perfume for every occasion. So let's get started.
First, in order to pick out "your perfect perfume for every occasion, you must figure out what notes you like. "Notes" are the fragranced oils that give the perfume that particular scent. Here are some of the most common ones:
Fruit: peach, apple, citrus, bergamont (lemon), grapefruit,
Floral: freesia, mint, jasmine, patchouli, lavender, rosewater, orchid
Musky and woody: vanilla, ylang ylang, ginger, Tonka bean, sandalwood, amber
Next, once you identify which scents you like the best, you must pick out your "signature scent", or your go-to scent. For example, I like notes of jasmine and ylang ylang, and that explains why Chanel no. 5 is my favorite.
Now that I have broken down the oils that make up a perfume, I am going to break down occasions when you should wear a scent, and which perfumes work best:
Spring: spring is all about fresh and a new start. Around this time, I like to wear scentgs that are fresh and airy: like a cotton scent or an ocean-inspired scents. This spring, try Oceane by Anthropologie, Sea Island Cotton by Bath and Body Works, or White Linen by Estee Lauder.
Summer: For summer, I like to wear scents that are fruity and sunny. Personally, I prefer body sprays because they are lighter and the bees wont chase me haha. Plus, if youre at the beach or pool , they wear off easily. Body sprays are easy to tote around and are cheaper so God forbit it overheats in your car, youre not out too much of a loss. Perfect notes for summer are peach, citus, melon, hibiscus, mango, and lilly.
Fall: For fall ,I like bold scents. I like to have notes of jasmine, amber, Tonka bean, and a little musk. Stuff that will stand out and make you think of a bonfire or walk in the woods.
Winter: For winter, I like warm, cozy scents. Something that will smell nice if you're cuddling up next to a fire. I like notes of warm vanilla, myrrh, milky, powdery scents. It is easy to get sick of cold weather, so wear a scent that is mild and you wont get sick of.
I hope this gives everyone an idea of what are god choices for each season, each occasion.
Thanks for reading!
xoxo
